Castlerea CS crowned SUBWAY All Ireland Schools Under 15 Cup Champions

THE SUBWAY All Ireland Schools Under 15 Cup finals got underway with a bang at the National Basketball Arena in Tallaght on Monday, with Lagan College (Belfast) and Castlerea Community School securing wins in the Under 15 B Boys and Under 15 C Girls Cup finals respectively.

First up, Lagan College faced off to Our Ladies Castleblayney in the Under 15 B Boys final, storming home to a comprehensive 40-18 point victory. Brilliant displays from Stephen Adrao, Ridwan Jama and Jack Terrins saw the Belfast side take a 6-11 lead early on, and they never looked back – driving on in style to secure the title (full report attached).

Meanwhile, Castlerea Community School held their nerve in the face of a determined Causeway Comprehensive comeback in order to secure the SUBWAY All Ireland Schools Under 15 C Girls Cup title in a nail-biting final this afternoon, running out 24-20 point winners in the end. Top scoring from Lisa O’Rourke of Castlerea was the difference between the two sides and despite a late comeback from Causeway Comprehensive, Castlerea kept their cool to run out four point winners in the end (full report attached).

Games continue Tuesday and Wednesday.
