Emirjeta was first introduced to the sport at the CBS Westland Row where two full size tables are installed and very much part of the schools sporting promotions. Alan Bailey is the man who got the sport up and running at the CBS and with the help of a number of teachers, Rosie Carroll, Eddie Kelly, Karl Mullane, Vanessa Swaine and the Principal Kate Byrne, all helped make the CBS the first School in Ireland to make great strides in promoting the sport among the girls.
The CBS has since provided after school programmes for the girls and over 60 girls from the CBS have since played in RILSA events over the past 4 years.
Emirjeta has been the most successful player from the CBS and has made fantastic progress on the RILSA National Tour Circuit. She won the inaugural National U21 Championship in 2014 at the Ivy Rooms Carlow beating Laura Regan from Tipperary in the final. In 2015 Emirjeta reached the
final of the U21 again but was beaten on this occasion by Danielle Randle from Kilkenny.
2016 saw Emirjeta come up against Caitlin Tucker from Dublin and she played well to regain her title and just recently had to hold firm against Grace Byrne from Carlow in the 2017 U21 final to win on a black ball to take the title for the 3rd time in 4 years, an amazing achievement for this young woman. Emirjeta has remained number 1 on the Junior National Rankings for the past 3 years.
Emirjeta’s National Ranking on the RILSA Main Tour has been really good with an all time high of 3rd after the 2014/2015 season, since then she has held onto a top 8 place, at 6th 2015/2016 and 7th in 2016/2017, currently she is provisionally ranked 11th in Ireland and is hoping to remain a top 16 player before seasons end in March 2018.
Emirjeta has made it to 11 semi final places on the ladies tour over the past 4 years and an Intermediate Ranking win in 2017 making it 4 wins in total for this young lady with two runner up places also to her name is indeed quite good for a player who is only on the women’s tour the last 4 years.
Her participation in all 3 RILSA International Open’s have seen her reach the Semi final stage of the International Intermediate event in 2015 and 2017 while in 2016 she reached the semis of the International 6 Red event, so a very good player to watch out for in the future.
Emirjeta was elected as the RILSA National Junior Development Officer at the RILSA AGM in June 2017 as she has shown fantastic initiative in helping promote the junior sector within RILSA, in particular signing up 90 players at the last two PEXPO’s in Ballymun Dublin where she excelled in her promotional skills.
We are delighted to have this young woman as part of our organisation and we at RILSA wish her every success for the future.
