By Joseph Kelly

Cork City Women’s FC will be looking to make it four wins in a row as they host last seasons Continental Tyre’s Women’s National League champions Shelbourne LFC this Saturday with a 5pm kick off at Bishopstown.

The win comes on the back of a 4-1 win against Wexford Youths WFC.

Cork City Women’s FC manager Frank Kelleher looked back on what was a great result: “We were delighted with the game against Wexford last week, it was a fantastic performance by everybody concerned. The team were really up for it and played fantastic football at times and we deservedly won it 4-1. There was some fantastic performances by players like Ciara McNamara, Katie McCarthy, Clare Shine, Saoirse Noonan, Megan Bourque and Stacey Paul just to mention a few, we had a very very good day.”

Cork City WFC face Shelbourne at 5pm Saturday having shared the points in a 1-1 game on the opening weekend of the Continental Tyre’s Women’s National League. Frank Kelleher looked forward to the clash with Shelbourne: “We’re now looking forward to Shelbourne next Saturday at 5pm. This is another tough test, Shelbourne had a good win last weekend and have kick started their season, however we’ve trained very well this week, we’ve prepared very well as always and we’re hoping again to put up a very good performance and see where it takes us. I think Shels will be looking to get the points and so are we so lets see who’s up for it most on the day.”
