This year’s PEXpo promises to be bigger and better than ever with all year groups from 1st year to 6th year included for the first time. The purpose of PEXpo is to promote the knowledge and understanding of sports, fitness and health related topics among young people.
Prizes will go to the best projects in junior (1st,2nd,3rd years) and senior (4th,5th,6th years) sections. Students, either as individuals or groups, can submit projects in one of six categories. The overall award for the best PEXpo project can go to a project from either section.
Last year’s winner was Conor Cantwell from CBS Kilkenny, who is now studying for his Leaving Certificate. As part of his prize, Conor presented his project on “Functional Movement training in young GAA players” to more than 400 PE Teachers and lecturers at the annual PEAI conference in Cork last October. His work has attracted the interest of several third level colleges. Latest sponsors of PEXpo include are Healthy Ireland, University of Limerick and the Irish Heart Foundation.
